- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 stick butter
- 1 quart fruit (4 cups) sweetened to taste
- Fruits such as Peaches strawberries, blackberries or apples may be used. Fresh Peaches are my favorite. And everyone fights for the chewy topping.
Wash fruit and cut into slices, halves, cubes, depending on fruit. Heat in microwave safe bowl or over medium heat in a heavy saucepan.
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Melt butter in the oven in a deep, high side baking dish. (soufflé dish)
In a mixing bowl combine the sugar, flour, milk, and baking powder. Mix batter until smooth.
Remove baking dish from oven, pour batter over butter. Pour fruit mixture on top of batter and bake for 25 minutes.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
