Hungarian Spiced Nuts
Ingredients
- 2 egg whites
- 1 ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons Hungarian sweet paprika
- 1 ½ teaspoons cayenne
- 2 cups fancy mixed nuts
- ¾ stick unsalted butter melted
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F
- with electric mixer, or handheld mixer, beat egg whites with salt until very foamy. Beat in sugar, paprika, and cayenne pepper; add Worcestershire. Fold in nuts and butter.
- Bake on cookie sheets lined with parchment paper or a Silpat. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes. Stir every 10 minutes until crisp and golden. Do not overcook. The spiced nuts will look wet but will crisp up when they cool.
- Let nuts cool on foil on a wire rack Break up and store in airtight container at room temperature.
