  • 10 oz. pitted dried dates, coarsely chopped (2 ¼ cups)
  • ½ stick unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 ¼ cups walnuts (4 ½ oz)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
